Colorado shooting victim’s dad forgives classmate

The father of a girl who was fatally shot at her suburban Denver high school says he and his wife have forgiven the killer, and he’s asking others to do the same.

Michael Davis said at a memorial Wednesday that the killer was blinded by anger and didn’t know what he was doing when he shot 17-year-old Claire Davis at Arapahoe County High School on Dec. 13.

The killer then took his own life. Davis died eight days later.

Deputies identified the killer as 18-year-old Karl Pierson, a student at Arapahoe High.

Investigators say his target was a speech coach who had disciplined him, and Davis was a random victim.

Michael Davis says his daughter’s last words were to ask Pierson, “Oh my gosh, Karl, what are you doing?”
