Country music legend Ray Price dies

A family spokesman says country singer Ray Price died on Monday (12/16/13).

Price had been battling pancreatic cancer since late last year.

His musical career spanned 65 years including his debut in 1952, “Talk To Your Heart,” which climbing all the way to No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. Price was perhaps best known for his version of the Kris Kristofferson-written song “For the Good Times” in 1970 that became a pop hit. He was one of the most influential figures in country music in the 1960s and ’70s, helping define the genre’s honky-tonk sound early in his career, then taking it in a more polished direction later.

On Thursday, the singer entered hospice care, leaving a message to fans: “I am at peace. I love Jesus. I’m going to be just fine. Don’t worry about me. I’ll see you again one day.”

Price was 87 years old.
