Local law enforcement takes precautions in response to shooting

Authorities in Colorado Springs and El Paso County took precautions after Friday’s school shooting in Centennial.

Spokespersons from both agencies said there were no specific threats to schools in the area. They simply wanted to take precautions and give parents peace of mind. The sheriff’s office increased patrols around the schools.

“Anytime you have events like this that are within the region or even further, that can create some scenarios where perhaps a copycat event (could happen),” Lt. Jeff Kramer, with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Colorado Springs Police had patrol officers check the schools in their immediate area, and resource officers were on heightened alert.
