Royal Gorge Bridge to reopen

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park officials plan to reopen the scenic tourist attraction in March after a wildfire gutted buildings and caused minor damage to the bridge in June.

The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park lost 48 of its 52 buildings in the blaze that shut down the suspension bridge 955 feet above the Arkansas River.

According to the Canon City Daily Record, crews are expected to break ground and begin pouring concrete in January.

Tours will be supervised on buses or shuttles so cars will not be driving through the park during reconstruction.
