Man gets 30 years in Grand Junction murder

One of two Colorado men convicted of killing a man by burning him alive inside a recreational vehicle will serve up to 30 years in prison.

A Grand Junction judge sentenced Julius Sutton on Tuesday, KKCO-TV reported Wednesday.

Sutton was convicted of second degree murder, first degree arson, assault and tampering with evidence in the July 2012 death of Bill Smith. A second man, Lucos Schultz, pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. He was sentenced to up to three decades in prison.

Prosecutors said Sutton and Schultz assaulted Smith, then set his RV on fire while he lay unconscious inside.
