Job applications have Colorado College on defensive

Colorado College officials believe they have nothing to apologize for on the school’s job applications.

The Denver Post reports that 66-year-old gay man John Kichi sent a complaint to the state attorney general because of the college’s job application.

On the application, an optional question seeking gender lets people choose male, female, not disclosed, transgender or queer.

“I couldn’t believe it. I thought I was going to have a stroke,” Kichi said. “It’s totally from the Dark Ages.”

Barbara Wilson, Colorado College’s human resources director told the Denver Post, “In the midst of the volume of conservatism in this city, we’re almost a safe haven.”

Colorado College also said it is committed to diversity and open to sexual orientation.
