UPDATE: Child dies of gunshot wound in Frederick

A 3-year-old Frederick boy who died from an apparent gunshot wound has been identified.

The Weld County coroner says Sheine Steine died from an accidental gunshot wound to the head on Monday.

Frederick Police Chief Gary Barbour tells KUSA-TV the boy’s mother, Dione Warren, called 911 and told the operator she believed her child had fallen and struck his head on the bedside table.

Police say no one has been charged or taken into custody. The coroner did not return a call seeking comment on Tuesday.
