Man arrested in crash that killed tow truck driver

Authorities arrested a 61-year-old man suspected of a crash that killed a tow truck operator and injured a Colorado State Patrol trooper in August.

KGMH-TV reports Wednesday that Dana Beales faces charges including vehicular homicide, third-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

The state patrol says Beales is suspected of crashing his truck into a state patrol car that was displaying emergency lights while stopped behind the tow truck on U.S. Highway 85 in Weld County. Authorities say the tow truck driver, Martin Braden of Aurora, was sweeping debris from a crash.

The state trooper was airlifted to a hospital and released hours later.

Authorities say Beales was speeding.
