UPDATE: 1 killed in I-25 crash

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating an accident on I-25, south of Pueblo that killed one person.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Sunday, about six miles south of Pueblo.

Troopers say the driver of one vehicle lost control on the wet road and crashed into a guard rail. The vehicle spun, crossed the highway lanes and went off the side of the road, then crashed into a second guard rail.

A truck then crashed into the first vehicle. A passenger was thrown from the first vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle, 30-year-old Jerrell Jinkins of Colorado Springs, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Troopers say he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The front passenger, 26-year-old Rashada Jinkins, was also wearing a seat belt and was treated for minor injuries. The rear passenger, 58-year-old Jerry Jinkins, was killed after being thrown from the vehicle. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver and passenger of the truck, 20-year-old Luke Greer of Colorado Springs and 20-year-old Rya Dyes of Centennial, were not hurt in the crash. Both were wearing seat belts.

Alcohol and drug use are not suspected in the crash, but troopers believe speeding was a factor.
