Man who drowned in Sand Creek identified

The Colorado Springs Police Department has released the name of a man whose body was found in Sand Creek on Monday. (9/16/13).

The remains of James Nelson Bettner, 47, were found in the west fork of Sand Creek near the intersection of Platte and Wooten in southeast Colorado Springs.

Bettner’s death has been ruled an accidental drowning.

The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been released, but Bettner apparently drowned at the height of the Colorado floods.
