GOP candidate in Pueblo recall quiet on abortion

The Republican trying to replace Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo isn’t discussing his views on abortion, contraception or the personhood amendment.

George Rivera told The Pueblo Chieftain that he’s “pro-life” but he wouldn’t elaborate on his position because he didn’t want to distract attention away from what he said was Giron’s failure to represent her constituents.

Rivera’s comments came as the executive director of NARAL Pro Choice Colorado, Karen Middleton, campaigned for Giron in Pueblo. Middleton, a former state lawmaker, thanked Giron for opposing a non-binding Republican resolution in favor of exempting some employers for providing contraception coverage.
