Teen killed in crash

Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash near Calhan, in eastern El Paso County.

El Paso County officials said 14-year-old Jae Ellis of Calhan was killed in the accident. She was the passenger in the vehicle.

The driver was 16-year-old Jourdan Ellis, also of Calhan. He suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Officers said the teen’s car crashed on Funk Road, near North Calhan Highway just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Alcohol, drugs, speed and texting were not factors in the crash, authorities said.
