San Luis Valley cashing in as solar hotspot

The San Luis Valley is cashing in on its reputation as a solar hotspot with several auctions of federal land.

The county already has four solar farms and the federal government is looking to boost domestic energy production between potato fields and rangeland.

According to the Alamosa Valley Courier, two solar zone auctions in October will be the first of many Bureau of Land Management competitive auctions for designated public lands stemming from 2012 federal legislation.
