Springs motorcyclist dies in US 50 crash

A Colorado Springs man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on Highway 50 in Howard.

The accident happened at 9:09 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Investigators say Christopher Gunderson, 46, was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson westbound on US 50 when he lost control and was thrown from the bike.

Gunderson was thrown into a 1999 Ford Ranger that was stopped on the highway, waiting to make a left turn.

Gunderson was wearing a helmet and eye protection.

The driver of the Ranger, Stephanie Jones, 33, of Coaldale, was not hurt.

Troopers say inattentiveness to driving and following too closely appear to be factors in the crash.
