Teddy bear checkups at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Bears were everywhere at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on Saturday, but not the kind you’re thinking of. Kids brought their teddy bears or stuffed animals for a discounted ticket.

They took their furry friends to a clinic to get them checked out: temperatures taken, wounds stitched up, even x-rays. the idea is to get children prepared for doctor visits showing them it’s not so scary.

“Stitches for brutus and a check up for bear,” said Kylie Gosnell.

“It’s a great event and it just familiarizes children with the healthcare community. So when they have to go to the doctor or dentist, it’s a little less scary for them,” said Cheyenne Mountain Zoo employee Erica Meyer.

The event happens again on Sunday. Kids get into the zoo for $5.25 with their stuffed animal. It’s going on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
