Greatest generation remembered

Ethel A. Makony is a spry 97 year old who is an inspiration to others. Ethel is retired Air Force and proud of it. She spent 24 years serving her country and joined the military when World War Two was raging in 1943.

Ethel’s travels included being part of the administrative staff taking down top secret notes and meeting the likes of Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy. Ethel Makony also helped pave the way for future women in the military. She retired as a Master Sergeant and believes with all her strength that, “It’s a wonderful opportunity for a girl to join the service and see the world.”
