Colorado suicide rate hits record

State officials are concerned after Colorado recorded more suicides in 2012 than ever before.

The state’s suicide death toll has been climbing for the past decade, giving Colorado one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. In 2012, more than 1,000 Coloradans committed suicide, a 16 percent increase over 2011.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says there are still plenty of resources available to help people struggling with mental health issues.
