Church in Florence can no longer afford services

The First Baptist Church congregation in Florence has turned over its deed to the Florence Arts Council because it can no longer afford to stay open.

The church at has been in the community for 115 years. On Sunday, members gave it away.

According to the Canon City Daily Record , the arts council plans to use the building for historical debates, music concerts, art shows and classes for children and adults.
