Colo. GOP gubernatorial hopefuls head to Pueblo

Republicans who’ve expressed interest in running against Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper will be in Pueblo meeting voters during the long lead-up to the 2014 race.

Former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo and Secretary of State Scott Gessler will be part of a meet-and-greet and a discussion with a radio station on Tuesday in an event hosted by the Pueblo County Republican Party. Tancredo and Republican State Sen. Greg Brophy have formally announced their candidacy, but Gessler has not officially entered the race.

Meanwhile, Hickenlooper is embarking on a two-day long tour of Colorado, beginning Tuesday in Eastern Plains communities and southern Colorado on Wednesday. Hickenlooper’s office says he’ll be talking about health care, education, and economic development, but that the tour is not related to his re-election campaign.
