Deadly head-on casino bus crash in Jefferson Co.

An early morning bus accident on Highway 6 in Jefferson County killed the driver of one vehicle and injured several others.

The Colorado State Patrol said it happened just after 6 a.m. in Clear Creek Canyon Tunnel 1.

Authorities said an SUV heading east on Highway 6 drifted into the other lane and struck a casino bus head-on.

The SUV was pushed back into the eastbound lanes and was hit by another vehicle.

The female driver of the SUV died on the scene, authorities said. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were brought to a local hospital.

About 40 people were on the casino bus. Several of them were brought to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries, the state patrol said.

Highway 6 is closed between Highway 119 to Highway 58 as authorities investigate the crash.
