Three hurt in Denver hit & run

A sports utility vehicle slammed into a bus stop Tuesday, injuring three people.

The crash happened at the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street just east of downtown.

A witness told Denver ABC affiliate KMGH-TV that the driver of the SUV climbed out of the driver-side window and ran off.

Another witness told KMGH that one person was pinned between the SUV and a bench, and that a steel rod had impaled that person’s leg.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Shen was getting a haircut nearby when the crash happened and rushed to help the victims.

In an interview with KMGH, Dr. Shen praised first responders. “I can’t say enough about those guys,” Shen said. “They do these things every single day.”
