Colo. shooting survivors raising money for others

An aspiring comedian who survived the Colorado theater shootings with his wife is inviting people to a fundraiser, but it’s not for them.

The Canon City Daily Record reports Caleb and Katie Medley are supporting an event to help the Fremont County Victim Advocate Program and those affected by the destructive Black Forest Fire this summer.

The fundraiser will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Florence High School and includes comedy, an auction and blood drive.

It is being held in memory of victims of the Aurora theater shootings last year. The Medleys sustained gunshot wounds to the head in the attack.

Katie Medley says her family has received an outpouring of generosity since then, and they want to give back.
