Dispute over VA hospital heads to arbitration

A dispute over a potential $200 million cost overrun for a new Veterans Affairs hospital in Aurora is headed to arbitration after builder Kiewit-Turner filed claims against the government.

The Denver Post reports Kiewit-Turner filed a complaint July 8 with the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals in Washington, which was set up by Congress to hear disputes between contractors and federal agencies.

The contractor says the nearly $600 million hospital won’t be finished until 2016.
