The federal government wants to step up watershed protection to reduce the risk of wildfires.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Colorado Sen. Mark Udall are in Fort Collins on Friday to announce a new partnership to reduce the risks to Colorado’s water supply.

The event kicks off the Western Watershed Enhancement Partnership, which is part of President Barack Obama’s Climate Action Plan that outlines a comprehensive approach to better prepare the United States for the impacts of climate change.
