Insanity plea for man accused of dismembering body

A man accused of poisoning and dismembering his mother and driving around with her remains in the back of an SUV has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Ari Liggett faces one count of first-degree murder in the death of 56-year-old Beverly Liggett last October.

The Denver Post reports Judge William Sylvester ruled Monday the man will undergo a court-ordered mental health evaluation at the Arapahoe County Jail, where the 24-year-old is being held. The evaluation is expected to last 60 days.
