Resilience center open before shooting anniversary

A center to help Aurora residents handle lingering effects of last year’s mass shootings at a movie theater has opened its doors.

The Aurora Strong Community Resilience Center opened Thursday, nine days before the anniversary of the attack that killed 12 people and injured 70.

The center will offer counseling under the supervision of Aurora Mental Health Center.

Residents can also learn resilience and coping skills for any future unexpected trauma.

About 100 people were on hand for the opening.
