Sen. Giron loses recall petition challenge

A second Colorado lawmaker targeted for recall because of her support for gun control has lost a challenge to block the recall.

A supporter of Democratic Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo argued that the petition to recall Giron is invalid because of its wording. Supporters of Democratic Senate President John Morse of Colorado Springs made an identical argument last week and were rejected.

The two lawmakers aren’t done trying to fight recall elections. A Democratic lawyer filed a lawsuit over the Morse decision, and a Giron lawsuit is expected within days.

The clock is now ticking for Gov. John Hickenlooper to set recall elections. Democrats hope a judge intervenes and blocks the recall elections.
