Rodeo parade expected to draw crowd, close streets

A week of rodeo fun kicks off in Colorado Springs Tuesday evening with the 73rd annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo parade.

The parade route starts at the intersection of Tejon and St. Vrain Streets, and travels south on Tejon ending at Vermijo Street. Tejon Street will be closed during the parade.

The parade is free to watch. Money raised by parade entries and the parade program benefits local military families.

Tuesday night’s parade kicks off a week of events surrounding the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.

The rodeo runs from Wednesday night through Saturday night at the Norris-Penrose Events Center, 1045 W. Rio Grande Street, beginning at 7:15. The rodeo grounds open at 4 p.m. each day.
