Crowley County homicide suspect arrested

A man accused of killing an Olney Springs woman has been arrested in California.

William Donnell III was arrested at a California port of entry site as he tried to cross back into the United States from Mexico.

Investigators have linked Donnell to the death of his girlfriend, Tara Martinez, 29, of Olney Springs.

Crowley County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 200 block of Schulyer Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. on Feb. 19. They found Martinez shot to death inside.

Donnell will be extradited to Colorado. He’s facing first-degree-murder charges.
