Human remains found in Florence

A partial denture attached to a tooth with the root intact was discovered by a homeowner in Florence while she was gardening at a home on West 2nd in Florence on Sunday.

The homeowner called the Florence Police Department. In addition, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation was called in and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office brought a cadaver dog to assist in the investigation.

A forensic dentist will determine how old the teeth are and DNA testing will be done. Investigators will also check the Missing Persons database.
