Austin Bluffs Pkwy. reopens following 2 separate crashes

Two separate car crashes closed down Austin Bluffs Pkwy. in Colorado Springs for more than three hours Sunday night.

In one crash, police say the driver of a Mazda sedan was speeding when her car crossed the median into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a Honda sedan.

The driver of the Honda, a 17-year-old girl, had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to the hospital to treat serious injuries. She is expected to recover.

The driver of the Mazda, Jaimie Pickle, 25, also suffered serious injuries. She is also expected to recover.

Pickle was charged with several traffic violations.

In the second crash, police say the driver of a Nissan Maxima jumped the median onto the wrong side of the road and crashed head-on with a Ford Explorer.

The driver of the Nissan, Peter Crain, 49, was charged with several traffic offenses, including DUI.

Only minor injuries were reported in the second crash.
