Several injured in crash

Several people were injured in a two-car crash in Colorado Springs Monday night.

The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. on W. Cimarron St. and I-25.

Police say the driver of a white Subaru Legacy ran a red light and crashed into a Ford Excursion as it was turning.

The driver of the Subaru, Desire Rimbert, 21, was trapped inside her car. The Colorado Springs Fire Department had to cut her out of the car.

Several people were taken to the hospital to treat their injuries. Rimbert’s back-seat passenger suffered a fractured skull, but is expected to survive. That passenger was not wearing a seat belt. Rimbert suffered a hip injury.

Police do not suspect alcohol or reckless behavior are factors in the crash.

Rimbert will be issued summonses for her role in the accident.
