Former police officer pleads guilty to lying about domestic violence

A former Colorado Springs police officer pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of attempting to influence a public servant.

Investigators said that Sydney Huffman pleaded guilty to lying about being a victim of domestic violence in June 2010. She had claimed her then boyfriend, Jarrott Martinez, physically assaulted her and raped her. He was later acquitted of the charges after his trial.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that Huffman will be sentenced to four years of probation. Her official sentencing hearing is in June. In addition to her probation, she could be sentenced to home detention, according to the district attorney’s office.
