Misconduct case against 1 AF Academy cadet dropped

An Air Force Academy commandant has dismissed a sexual misconduct case against cadet Ben York.

Academy spokesman David Cannon said Thursday that Brig. Gen. Gregory Lengyel found there wasn’t enough evidence to move York’s case to a court-martial.

Six cadets have been charged in alleged sexual misconduct or sexual assault cases since January 2012. Of those, Stephan Claxton and Anthony Daniels Jr. received jail time. The Gazette reports cases against York, Robert Evenson Jr. and Kyle Cressy were dismissed.

Meanwhile a court-martial has begun for cadet Jamil Cooks on charges of attempted sodomy, aggravated sexual assault and abusive sexual contact. Separately Cooks pleaded guilty earlier this week to unlawful entry of a dorm room stemming from an incident in December.
