Spring thaw renews search for missing boy

Volunteers and law enforcement officials hope the spring thaw will turn up new clues in the search for a 14-year-old boy who was reported missing in southwestern Colorado last November.

Denise Hess, who organizes volunteers looking for Dylan Redwine, told The Gazette the group is trying to raise money to hire teams that specialize in deep water searches. Crews have focused their search on Vallecito Reservoir near Durango.

Dylan has been missing since Nov. 19, a day after arriving at his father’s Vallecito home for a court-ordered visit during Thanksgiving break. The boy was living with his mother and brother in the Colorado Springs area.

His father said he last saw Dylan asleep when he left home early to do some errands. He reported the boy missing that afternoon.
