Human remains found in the bottom of the Royal Gorge

Human remains were found in the bottom of the Royal Gorge Sunday morning.

Park Rangers reported an abandoned car in a parking lot Saturday night. Caon City Police were not able to find anything when they responded.

Police went back to the Royal Gorge Bridge early Sunday morning and found the remains.

Caon City Police, Fremont County Search and Rescue and the Fremont County Coroner’s Office are working to recover the remains.

No further information will be released until the coroner identifies the remains and notifies the next of kin.
