Man killed in crash, 3 others injured

A New Mexico man was killed in a two-car crash Friday night. The crash happened on Colorado 160, about 40 miles east of Trinidad.

Troopers say the driver of a Ford 150 was going westbound in the eastbound lane of Colorado 160 when it crashed into a semi tractor trailer. The Ford went off the side of the road and rolled, landing on its roof. The semi also went off the road and hit a guardrail, then caught on fire.

The driver of the Ford has been identified as Caleb Howard, 21, of Red River, New Mexico. He died on scene.

The driver of the semi, Ty Modisette, 42, of New Mexico was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital.

There were three other passengers in the semi. Two of the passengers were hurt in the crash, and all three were also taken to the hospital.

Colorado State Patrol is still investigating the crash. They say alcohol, drugs and speed were not contributing factors.
