Man at center of Widefield officer involved shooting identified

Police have identified the man killed Friday in Widefield after reportedly ramming police cars with his own.

Nicholas Byron Titus, 21, of Logansport, Indiana was killed in the altercation.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release any details about why Titus was being followed by members of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

An obituary for Titus said he was a construction worker but did not indicate how long he had been in the Pikes Peak area.

Sgt. Joe Roybal said further details may be withheld until an investigation by the district attorney’s office is complete. The investigation is standard with any officer involved shooting.
