Man gets 32 years to life for child sex assault

An Arapahoe County man has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting his young stepdaughter over a two-year-period.

The district attorney’s office said Friday that 44-year-old Jorge Alberto Soto was convicted of 16 counts of sexual assault on a child. He was found guilty in October and sentenced on Thursday.

Prosecutors say the victim was in the sixth grade when the assaults started. She reported the assaults in December 2006 after she had been attacked almost daily for a week.

Prosecutors say Soto fled when he learned the victim had reported the attacks. He was arrested four years later in Louisiana.
