Canon City student arrested for school shooting threat

Canon City Police arrested a 13-year-old Harrison School student Friday for threatening school violence.

The boy allegedly sent a text message to two other students at two separate Canon City Schools threatening a shooting at Harrison School at the end of the school day.

Police were notified and the boy was arrested around 2 p.m. He was taken into custody for investigation of charges related to Interference with Staff, Faculty or Students of Educational Institutions.

He was later released to his parents.

Anyone who may have information pertinent to this case is asked to call the Canon City Police Department at 276-5600.
