Air Force Academy weighs sex misconduct case against cadet

An Air Force judicial officer is considering whether an Air Force Academy cadet should face a court-martial on sexual misconduct charges.

An academy spokesman said Friday it could be weeks before a final decision is made on whether Anthony D. Daniels Jr., a junior, should go to trial.

A hearing on the evidence against Daniels ended Wednesday. The investigating officer who presided over the hearing will recommend to the academy’s top commanders what should happen next.

Daniels is charged with sodomy, attempted sodomy and aggravated sexual conduct against another cadet.

He’s one of at least five cadets who were charged with sexual misconduct this year. One was convicted and sentenced to prison, and another had charges dropped. The other cases are still in the military court system.
