El Paso County authorities look for missing teen

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community for help in locating a woman who has not been heard from since early October though at this point detectives do not suspect foul play.

Kara Nichols was last seen on October 9, 2012 in the Colorado Springs area. Prior to this date, Nichols was in regular contact with her family, friends, and associates, but they have not spoken with her since October 10, authorities said.

Nichols was believed to be traveling to the Denver area for employment purposes. A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office would not reveal the teen’s profession but she does have a modeling profile page with an agency out of the metro area.

” We’re at the point of the investigation where we are looking for leads or help for the community but we have been working on this case for some time,” said Sgt. Joe Roybal with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said her disappearance could be suspicious based on the lack of communication with her family but have not found anything that would lead them to believe she was abducted or harmed.

“We’re just asking if anybody has seen her, or if she sees this herself, that she contacts us or her family to let us know she is okay,” said Roybal.

The 19-year-old is 5’8″ tall, 120 pounds with blond hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information concerning her whereabouts is asked to please call Detective Cliff Porter at 719-520-7227.
