Powdered vitamin causes post office scare

The US Post Office in Security-Widefield has reopened after a suspicious substance was deemed not harmful.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office tells us that the post office was closed shortly before 10:00 a.m. Monday. A package had a white, powdery substance on it, according to authorities.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene to investigate. The substance is believed to be powdered Vitamin C.

The post office reopened to the public around noon Monday.
