Theater shooting victim featured in TV ad

A man wounded in the shootings at a suburban Denver movie theater is appearing in an ad aimed at getting voters’ attention before the first presidential debate.

Stephen Barton was among the 58 people injured in the July 20 attack in Aurora that also killed 12 people.

In a 30-second spot that cable television viewers in the Denver and Washington D.C. markets might see this week, Barton urges people to ask themselves during the debates which candidate has a plan to stop gun violence.

The ad says it was paid for by United Against Illegal Guns Support Fund. Barton works for Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney are set to debate Wednesday in Denver.
