Discount card for those affected by Waldo Canyon Fire

A new plan aims to help victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire get back on their feet. It’s called the Colorado Springs Together Card.

For people whose homes were damaged or destroyed during the fire, it will offer special discounts to cover their needs.

Colorado Springs Together says for a typical home, it would cost about $200,000 to replace everything from clothing to electronics.

So the non-profit is asking businesses to participate by offering at least 20 percent off or the equivalent on their goods and services. That means savings on the big stuff residents need like furniture, bedding and home services. And also on the fun stuff, like meals out at restaurants and visits to attractions.

Colorado Springs together says the card will be distributed to 1,700 addresses in Mountain Shadows and the extreme west side of Peregrine. That would be more than 4,000 people.

If you want your company to participate call Colorado Springs Together at (719) 385-2000 or sign up online.
