Police nab thieves stealing from Waldo Canyon victims

Four people have been arrested for reportedly stealing metal from homes destroyed in the Waldo Canyon fire.

Selina Blair, 19, Liza McFadden-Rhane, 51, Marshall Brooks, 29, and Tero Rhane, 20, were charged with theft and trespassing.

Colorado Springs police said they found the four on private property in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood Sunday evening.

A homeowner called police after seeing the suspects reportedly take metal from destroyed homes in the 5600 block of Vantage Vista Drive.

That home was one of several that saw extensive damage due to the Waldo Canyon wildfire that destroyed 346 homes in Colorado Springs this July.

Colorado Springs police said they are working closely with neighborhood groups to curb illegal activity while homeowners are living elsewhere and trying to rebuild.
