Hwy 67 opens near Cripple Creek

State Highway (SH) 67 has reopened to traffic, about one mile north of Cripple Creek, after a sinkhole closed the roadway on Saturday.

The highway is now alternating traffic in one lane around the site, with portable signals alternating northbound and southbound traffic. Stops are approximately five minutes long. Since the lane is constrained, vehicles wider than 12 feet are not allowed through the area while the highway is reduced to one lane.

CDOT is moving forward with emergency contracting procedures, developing a scope of work and expects to have a contractor on board to begin repairs by the end of the week.
