Man arrested in stolen car with drugs

Colorado Springs police arrested a man Wednesday morning in a stolen car.

Police say an officer was on a routine patrol of the parking lot of the Walmart on E. Platte Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. in an unmarked cruiser with a license plate reader. The reader alerted the officer to a reported stolen car.

A man was inside the stolen car. The man, later identified as 40-year-old Justin Layton, was in the possession of drug paraphernalia and .7 grams of methamphetamine, police said.

Police arrested Layton for theft by receiving and on drug charges.
