Homemade explosive frightens apartment residents

Residents at the Westview Apartments in Colorado Springs reported several loud explosions Tuesday evening.

Police say 19-year-old Shawnell Fountain put black powder into tall round cylindrical containers and lit them on fire in the back parking lot of the apartment complex.

Police said one tenant said the explosion sent sparks through his window and caused his ears to ring.

No property damage or injuries were reported.

Fountain was arrested and faces a charge of incendiary or explosive devices.
