Colorado Springs Man Killed In Idaho Rafting Accident

Authorities in central Idaho on Wednesday morning retrieved the body of a Colorado Springs, Colo., man who died several days earlier during a rafting trip on the remote Middle Fork of the Salmon River.

The Custer County, Idaho Sheriff’s Office says the body of 34-year-old Jonathan Victor Boling was flown out by airplane and taken to a funeral home in Challis. Arrangements are being made to take the body to Colorado.

Officials tell the Post Register a rafting accident happened at Velvet Falls late Sunday morning not long after the 14-member party launched in four rafts and seven pontoon boats.

Officials say Boling wasn’t in the 38-degree water very long but efforts to revive him failed.

The rafters then traveled downstream with Boling’s body to an airstrip.
